Apex Legends causes some Mayhem with Season 8

Apex Legends causes some Mayhem with Season 8
February 15th, 2021

Apex Legends is celebrating its two-year anniversary, having launched back on February 4th, 2019. The game has been growing bigger and better with every passing month, thanks to constant injections of new content and features. Believe it or not, we’ve run through 7 different Seasons of Apex Legends so far, and now Season 8 is upon us! By the looks of it, this Season is set to take the action to a whole new level. Get ready for a lot of gunfire and plenty of mayhem to match!

One of the most exciting additions for Season 8 has to be Fuse, a new Legend joining the cast. Fuse has a background in cage fighting, but he’s ditched the devil’s playpen for some run-and-gun action in Apex Legends. Staying on top in the cage required a lot of explosive moves, which is why it’s no surprise to see Fuse’s affinity for weapons that go boom. Fuse can stack an extra grenade in his inventory slot, and he can launch those grenades greater distances, and with better accuracy than other Legends.

The Motherlode

That’s not the only explosive action Fuse brings to the table. He also has access to a Knuckle Cluster, which is a bomb that throws out a collection of explosives once it hits the ground. Think of it as one big explosion followed by numerous short bursts. Finally, Fuse offers up the Motherlode, which is made for when you’re in some serious trouble. The Motherlode will send out multiple explosions that surround a select area in a wall of flames. There’s no way your enemies are getting in or out of that one!

Of course, Season 8 brings plenty of updates that aren’t tied to a specific Legend. While you’re out there trying to survive, hopefully you’ll happen upon the new 30-30 Repeater. This is a lever-action repeater that can dish out some major damage up to 200 paces away! While you have to rechamber shots between rounds, you can also charge up a shot for an insane amount of destruction. The 30-30 Repeater can ensure far-off enemies stay out of range, or up-close threats are squashed at a moment’s notice.

Mags & Maps

Season 8 also adds in Gold-tier magazines, and these will come in handy for any player. Attaching a Gold-tier magazine will allow you to reload your weapon automatically while it’s stored. Sure, it’ll take a few seconds for the reload to click in, but when you swap in that refreshed weapon to blow the bad guys away, the few seconds of patience don’t seem so bad! Gold-tier magazines pack the same amount of ammo as Purple magazines, and can be used with Light, Heavy, Snipers, and Energy Weapons.

It wouldn’t be a Seasonal update without some tweaks to Kings Canyon, and Season 8 is no different. While a large portion of the map stays the same, players will be able to investigate fresh areas opened up in the wake of a ship crash. New locations can be found in and around Artillery, giving you a great reason to drop in. Along with that, Spotted Lakes has taken over the Slums, and a few more observation towers are peppered around the map. Make sure to explore every nook and cranny, as you might find a new favorite spot, or the perfect perch for sniping.

Quality of life is up

Last but not least, Apex Legends’ Season 8 update brings some quality of life improvements with it. The highly-requested damage counter feature has been added to the HUD, you can ping weapons or ammo in your inventory, canon skins have gotten lore blurbs to explain their backstory, and both healing and reviving have gotten tweaks to display properly within Colorblind Mode. Of course, there’s also been minor tweaks to hit boxes for Legends, meta-game adjustments, and a host of bug fixes.

Season 8 is now live in Apex Legends, so you can dive in today and experience all the new content. Along with that, Switch owners will be able to get in on the game for the very first time starting March 9th, 2021. Get ready for an influx of new players who are hungry to not only try the new Season, but see how they stand up against the veterans!
