Believe it or not, gamers have been enjoying the battle royale action of Fortnite since late 2017.  3+ years later and the game is still going strong, thanks to Epic’s constant stream of new content for the game.  From skins to emotes and more, Fortnite has provided countless hours of entertainment.

Some of that fun comes from the never-ending teases of what’s next.  Epic loves to sneak out clues for their next big collaboration, and fans do their best to not only decipher the hints but also dig deep into the game’s source code for new info.  The combination of these efforts has led to reveals for numerous Fortnite crossovers, including John Wick, the NFL, Star Wars, and so much more.

What’s next for the world of Fortnite?  Chapter 2: Season 3 is just about to end, as Season 4 kicks off on August 27th, 2020.  In recent weeks, Epic themselves have shared a few snippets of what to expect, and data miners have unearthed their own details as well.  Let’s take a look at the facts and fiction as we gear up for Chapter 2: Season 4.

Fact: Marvel Crossover

Fortnite has teamed up with the Marvel brand in the past, and with great success.  Fortnite has seen an Avengers event that brought about Thanos, a visit from everyone’s favorite chimichanga aficionado Deadpool, infiltration from the superhero team X-Force, and much more.  In the pantheon of Fortnite crossovers, Marvel tie-ins are certainly among the best.

While the Marvel content we’ve seen so far has been great, it seems the best is yet to come.  We know for a fact that Fortnite is going to get more Marvel content at the start of Chapter 2: Season 4, as Epic has confirmed it. Epic took to their official Twitter account to share a teaser image for the next season, and it features none other than Marvel’s Thor.

That was just the start of things though, as Epic started sharing pages of a special Thor comic within Fortnite itself.  The comic features Thor as he follows Galactus, who is out to find another world to consume.  The two enter a rift, which plops them down into the world of Fortnite.   The comic’s story isn’t done yet, but its final pages will likely be added on the eve of Season 4.

Rumour: Marvel Skins

While we know that Fortnite is getting more Marvel content, we don’t quite know what will be offered.  It makes sense that some Marvel character skins will be added to the game, but Epic is yet to say anything official on that.  They most likely won’t share any details on skins and more until Season 4 officially kicks off, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on what will be unlocked.

The Marvel universe is filled with an unbelievable amount of characters, making for quite the laundry list of who could join Fortnite.  All sorts of names have been floated in the last few weeks, but there is a handful that has risen to the top.  A mix of heavy speculation and data mining has resulted in Thor, Wolverine, Groot, Galactus, Storm, and Iron Man being the most likely.  These are not confirmed by any means, but at the very least, they’re quite desired by the Fortnite fanbase.

Rumor: Comic Tributes

Marvel isn’t the only comic book company that Fortnite has teamed up with.  Just a few weeks back, Fortnite players got to pick from a number of different DC character skins, including Batman, Catwoman, and even Aquaman.  Aquaman in particular brought in a ton of attention, as the skin was based on actor Jason Momoa, who portrays Aquaman on the silver screen.

Rumor has it that the upcoming slate of Marvel skins in Fortnite will take things back in the comic book direction.  Instead of adding skins that feature the likeness of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine or Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, the designs will be based on recent comic book stylings.  We’re not sure how long Fortnite will be around and playable, but adding in skins based on comic interpretations rather than actor portrayals does seem like a way to make the designs a bit more timeless.

Rumour: Marvel Locations

It’s clear that Marvel characters are invading Fortnite in the near future, but will there be more than just familiar faces added to the mix?  Fans are wondering if Chapter 2: Season 4 of Fortnite will change up the map as well.  Could we see some of the current locations get demolished and replaced with iconic settings from the Marvel universe?
While the evidence is scarce for location revamps in Season 4, we’ve seen changes like this happen in the past.  When Deadpool made his way to Fortnite, he got a special location all to himself.  Anyone can hop into Fortnite right now and visit Deadpool’s Yacht.  The Yacht was actually a location in Fortnite prior to Deadpool’s arrival, but since he showed up, the yacht has gotten a complete makeover.  Deadpool’s face and decorations can be found all over the Yacht, making it clear the merc with a mouth hangs out there in his free time.

If Deadpool can get his own yacht, certainly other Marvel characters could lead to some map changes.  If Iron Man ends up making the cut, perhaps Stark Tower could find its way into the game.  Rumors of Wolverine and Storm joining the action could pave the way for Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, better known as the X-Mansion.  Just like the characters, the location opportunities from the Marvel universe are endless!

A Marvelous Season

The great thing about all the rumors flying around is that we won’t have to wait long to see what pans out.  Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 4 explodes onto the scene on August 27th, 2020.  No matter what, there are sure to be plenty of Marvel action to enjoy, skins to snatch up, and even more secrets to explore.  The marriage of Fortnite and Marvel has been a massive hit in the past, and all indicators point to this next round of content being an absolute blast.
